Did you know that there are over 34,000 registered nonprofits in Colorado? These are organizations dedicated to delivering services across a vast spectrum of causes in our state. According to the Colorado Nonprofit Association, over 23,000 of those nonprofits have an annual budget less than $500,000. That’s a tremendous amount of good work being done on a small budget.
As a funding organization, BPI seeks to support those community-based organizations providing services for the often-forgotten group of 17–19-year-olds struggling to make the leap into adulthood.
We imagine a world where every teenager has access to the many resources they need to be successful—tutoring, transportation, materials costs, language support, mentorship, hands-on learning, and even basic necessities. For financially disadvantaged youth, wraparound services provide comprehensive, holistic support that’s crucial for helping them overcome challenges and achieve their dreams. Our grants are aimed at funding these services to empower your initiatives and bring meaningful change to local communities across Colorado.
In this blog, I’ll walk you through the two-step application process so you can confidently put your best foot forward. Whether you’re a seasoned grant writer or embarking on this journey for the first time, we’re here to guide you every step of the way. We believe your vision matters, and with a little support and encouragement, together we can create an empowering environment where every young adult can truly shine. Ready to roll up your sleeves and get to work? Let’s dive in!
Step one: Submit your Letter of Interest (LOI). Our grant applications are invitation only to ensure we are focusing our efforts on well-qualified nonprofit organizations. To receive an invitation, fill out our LOI form at: https://www.bpicharity.org/grants. Please read the instructions carefully and submit your LOI on your organization’s letterhead. Remember to select the grant level you are interested in and ensure your services are directly aligned to BPI’s mission. The more specific you are, the more likely you are to be invited to apply. The window for LOI submissions closes on April 13th.
Step two: After the LOI submission window closes, selected organizations will receive invitations to apply starting April 14th. Depending on your requested grant amount level, the application process will require different levels of detail and information.
Here’s what you can expect from the application process:
Clearly articulated need- share the specific challenges you’re addressing and how your organization is preparing to tackle them.
A detailed budget- Break down how the funds will directly support your initiatives, providing clarity and transparency.
Impact statement- Tell us concisely how your project will benefit the target population. We want to see the direct effect of your efforts!
Capabilities- Highlight your organization’s proven track record. This is a chance to showcase your successes!
Alignment- Be sure to align your mission with ours, emphasizing how your work resonates with BPI’s goals.
The application period will close on May 21st, and award notifications will be sent out by mid-June. We’re genuinely excited about the possibility of supporting your organization in the essential work you do.
